Robert Goddard

Vice President/Investments AIF®, CFP®

Bob began his career working for National Financial Services in New York City across the street from the World Trade Center.  He later furthered his career with Banc of America Investments in Charlotte, North Carolina and, after returning to his hometown of Valdosta, spent nearly six years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney before joining Stifel in 2011.

Bob has two Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from Valdosta State University, in Speech Communications and Theatre Arts.  He also has his Master of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University.  He holds his Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal), and Series 66 (Investment Advisor Representative), as well as Life, Health, and Variable Insurance (including annuities).  Bob is a Certified Financial Planner professional and also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary designation.

Bob takes a holistic approach when examining his clients’ financial life.  He not only reviews their individual investments, but also assesses risk and liability concerns as well, including insurance and annuities.  From an investment perspective, Bob believes in a well-allocated investment portfolio based on the client’s goals, experience, and comfort level with risk.  A well-allocated investment portfolio includes (but is not limited to) common and preferred stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and cash.  Dividend-paying equities may also be utilized where appropriate for income and potential growth of principal.  On occasion, alternative investments may be employed to round out a client’s allocation.  Bob will also collaborate with outside money managers in order to utilize their specialized area of expertise, such as options and derivative investments.

Bob believes in attempting to maintain a high level of contact and communication with clients whenever possible to better serve their needs.

Always involved in his community, Bob is currently the Treasurer of the Annette Howell Turner Center of the Arts, a Board Member of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra Board, and Past Chairman of the Five Points Municipal Auditorium Steering Committee.  Bob is a member of the 2009 Class of Leadership Lowndes.  Bob is married to Mattia Goddard, and they have two children; Bobby and Raquel.
